Shabbat

Our monthly Tot Shabbat celebration are led by Rabbi Adam and Cantor Lindsay on Fridays at 5:30pm to welcome Shabbat with songs and stories in an engaging 30 minute service. Designed for children under age 6 but siblings are welcome. We will play instruments, hear songs and stories, and share important Shabbat time.

Holiday Celebrations

We always have family services over the High Holy Days – details from 5785 | 2024 can be found here.

On Purim we celebrate with the whole family starting with a Purim Shpiel and then our Carnival, led by our KESTY Teens. Come in costume and enjoy crafts, games, snacks and more!

Temple Emanuel Early Childhood Center

Children 18 months to 5 share their days together in our highly-respected, year-round  Temple Emanuel Early Childhood Center

Students can enroll on a year-round or 10 month schedule. We have full and half-day options for some ages.

We invite you to visit and see us in action! For more information or to schedule a tour, please contact Dana Robinson, Director, Early Childhood, or call (301) 942-2000.

Inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach to early childhood learning and the progressive values of Temple Emanuel, we foster a love of exploration and discovery.

Temple Emanuel Religious School

Temple Emanuel’s Religious School (TERS) focuses on three central Jewish values: Community (Kehilla), Learning (Limmud), and Spirit/Identity (Ruach). Throughout the year, we bring these values to life through fun activities like interactive lessons, family events, field trips, celebrating holidays, prayers (tefilla), arts and crafts, movement, and play. Every activity we do connects at least two of these core values.

We begin with a monthly program for pre-K students; the schedule usually runs September – May.

For more information, please contact Laura Naide, Director of Congregational Learning.
