Social Action

“Imagine congregants motivated by core Jewish values… teaching our community that being a Jew means caring for needs around our world and making a difference in small ways.” – Rabbi Warren Stone

As a caring, inclusive community based on Jewish values and principles, Temple Emanuel is committed to furthering social justice.

The last few years have been tremendously challenging in our country and around the world, and today we are witnessing an assault on the civil rights and safety of vulnerable communities, as well as the devastating impacts of climate change.

All members of the Temple Emanuel community are encouraged to participate in acts of social justice on a local, national, and international level. And personal ethics are a pillar of our religious school curriculum.

  • Our Community Social Action Council leads our community to social action and advocacy locally and nationally. This group strengthens the ability of all Temple volunteers to make a difference in our community.
  • Our Kulanu team supports the rights of the LGBTQIA+ community. Learn more about the work of our Kulanu committee.
  • The Global Mitzvah Team works to address poverty, health, and education needs around the world. Learn more about the work of our Global Mitzvah Team.
  • Temple Emanuel enjoys a long history of supporting local organizations, including SOME (So Others Might Eat), A Wider Circle, Manna Food, Meals on Wheels, Comfort Cases, and Martha’s Table.
