One of our most active committees, the Global Mitzvah Team supports the international charitable projects of our Global Mitzvah Project, working to address poverty, health, and educational needs around the world.

They strive to fulfill Judaism’s commitment to Tikkun Olam, healing or repairing the world.

Their goals are funding sustainable projects with trusted partners and touching the next generation at Temple Emanuel. They educate the TE community by regular updates on their projects, class presentations, and bringing inspiring guest speakers.

Origin & History

Launched in 2007, Global Mitzvah’s recognitions has been recognized by the Commission on Social Action of Reform Judaism, from whom they received the Irving J. Fain Social Action Award at the 2013 Religious Action Center Consultation on Conscience.

Their work was also featured on the Religious Action Center blog, “One Way Our Congregation Pursues Global Social Justice – And You Yours Can, Too”

Rabbi Emeritus Warren Stone describes their mission as: “Imagine congregants motivated by core Jewish values … teaching our community that being a Jew means caring for needs around our world and making a difference in small ways.”
