PRIDE SHABBAT
Friday June 5 5:30pm
At 5:30 PM, enjoy pizza and ice cream for everyone. At 6:30 PM, gather for a special Shabbat service on the pavilion featuring music, community, and guest speaker Hila, an Israeli shlicha with the Jewish Federation of Greater Washington.
Hila’s story brings together queer pride, Jewish belonging, and a deep connection to Israel. Drawing from her experiences growing up in Jerusalem, advocating for LGBTQ+ rights in Israel, and building Jewish communities around the world.
In addition, are you heading to summer camp? Come receive a special blessing and send-off!
Presented by Temple Emanuel with support from the Jewish Federation of Greater Washington.
GAN KEHILLAH SHABBAT
Saturday June 6 9:00am
Schmooze with Friends: Spend a Shabbat morning gathered in community with other families with young children. Join us for challah, grape juice, and a Shabbat celebration facilitated by lay leaders. This week’s Gan Kehillah will be outside!
DEATH CAFE #6
Sunday June 7 12:30pm
A Death Cafe is a group directed discussion of death with no agenda, objectives or
themes. It is a discussion group rather than a grief support or counselling session.
Rabbi Adam and Sue Berman will facilitate this conversation. Our objective, borrowed
from the deathcafe.com website is ‘to increase awareness of death with a view to
helping people make the most of their (finite) lives.’
While this will not be an information session about death or funeral practices, we
will have resources available that may support you and/or your family.
While it’s not a requirement, it might be helpful to watch the PBS documentary Being
Mortal before our first meeting.
Please RSVP using this link by Wednesday, June 3 so that we know how much food to prepare.
CRAFTS & CONVERSATION (in the Adult Ed room downstairs)
Wednesday June 10 2:00pm
Are you a knitter? Cross stitcher? Crafter? Come to crafts and conversations and enjoy conversations with new and old friends while you work on your craft.
This is the last meeting before we take a break for the summer!
BIBLE & BREWS: PRIDE EDITION
Saturday June 13 5:00pm
Join Rabbi Adam Rosenwasser and Reverend Joey Heath-Mason, Associate Pastor at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, for our monthly Bibles & Brews gathering at 5:00 PM at BabyCat Brewery.
Come enjoy great conversation, community, and thoughtful interfaith discussion in a relaxed setting over a drink. We’d love to see you there!
CHESAPEAKE BAYSOX GAME
Sunday June 21 1:00pm
Players will be signing autographs before the game, and the Kids Park will be open prior to first pitch. After the game, kids are invited onto the field to run the bases.
We are especially excited that our very own Paul Bolstad will be throwing out the ceremonial first pitch, and the Brotherhood Board Dugout Singers will lead “Take Me Out to the Ballgame” during the 7th inning stretch.
The entire Temple Emanuel community is invited to attend. Tickets are $15 each, and a portion of all ticket sales will benefit the Temple Emanuel Brotherhood, helping support Religious School, ECC, youth, and congregational programming throughout the year.
