A course for anyone interested in exploring Judaism: interfaith couples, those considering conversion and Jews looking for adult-level basics. This class, sponsored by the Union for Reform Judaism (URJ), introduces the fundamentals of Jewish thought and practice. Topics include Jewish holidays and life cycle events, theology and prayer, Israel, history and Hebrew. The class beings on September 21. No class on December 28. Last class in this series is on January 4, 2011. Classes meet at Temple Emanuel from 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm for 16 weeks. The cost for the class, which includes books, is $375 per student and $400 per couple. There is a $25 discount for members of URJ congregations. Enjoy the perfect celebration of Sukkot – under our “sukkah” in the outdoor Mark Mann Pavilion. This participatory family service celebrates Sukkot by living as the holiday requires, in sight of the stars and in full view of nature. We shake the lulav, smell the etrog, and really feel what it is to dwell with God in God’s beautiful creation. Don’t forget to bring a flashlight!
