Early Childhood Director, Madeline Lowitz-Gold

Madeline, a long-time professional in the field of Jewish Early Childhood education, is delighted to welcome children and their families to the new Temple Emanuel Early Childhood Center.  Most recently, Madeline served as Director of Early Childhood, Parenting and Youth services at the Washington DCJCC, where she established a model program based on the pedagological philosophy of Reggio Emilia. The Temple’s preschool program will be based on her strong belief in that philosophy that considers all children to have great potential, curiosity and interest in learning.

Madeline is a graduate of The Ohio State University and took graduate courses at the University of Maryland. She is a participant in the PJLL’s ongoing Early Childhood Israel Study Group and is part of a select group of early Childhood educators who attended the first Jewish study seminar in Reggio Emilia, Italy.

She is co-chair of the Early Childhood Director’s Council of the Partnership for Jewish Life and Learning and is on the board of the National Association of Jewish Early Childhood Educators.  She is also a member of the National American Reggio Emilia Alliance and the National Association of the Education of Young Children.

Madeline was on the staff of the Jewish Community Center of Greater Washington for fifteen years where she was director of the full-day preschool and director of early childhood camps.  She also has a professional background in public relations, writing and editing.

Madeline is married to Martin Gold, an attorney, and has two grown children – Daniel and Aliza.

She can be reached at madeline@templeemanuelmd.org or by telephone at 301-942-2000.
